Job Purpose
To develop and implement a portfolio growth strategy in conjunction with key internal stakeholders cross franchise partners and the local country BU’s, that delivers the company’s ambitions.

To lead the company’s relationship with cross-functional teams

To provide leadership to the local country BU’s in the development of the portfolio strategy.

To lead cross franchise business and to manage the delivery of the business results and on-going relationship.

To develop a high performing team, with high levels of engagement, that is seen as critical in the career path to senior management within the business.

• Develop a portfolio strategy for the business based on the category vision opportunities, consumer and shopper needs, and prioritized occasions to meet the company’s ambition.

• Develop and implement a franchisor operating model for all franchise partners.

• Establish a 6 quarter rolling activity plan in collaboration with franchise partners and local country BU’s.

• Provide pan-European co-ordination of major branded activity.

• Develop a close working relationship with cross-functional teams.

• Develop the cross franchise through growth of the base business, cross franchise innovation, geographical expansion and pan-European activity to achieve the ambition in the business.

• Establish a close working relationship with cross franchise partners, develop routines to track and monitor progress and coach and co-ordinate the local country BU teams to deliver against the cross franchise plans.

• Identify new suitable cross franchise or M&A opportunities to fill any potential gaps in the overall portfolio vision and develop clear business cases for senior management decision making.

• Lead innovation agenda.

• Provide direction and stewardship so that the business meets its portfolio sustainability targets.

• Track and monitor competitor performance and propose strategies to counter the competitive threat.

• Establish a close working relationship with the local country BU teams and improve capability.

• Provide pan European leadership in developing business case for brand x.

• Provide pan European leadership in redefining brand y business development plan with KO.

• Provide pan European leadership in developing Incubator projects.

• In collaboration with the Insights team, establish with key stakeholders a common brand health scorecard, linked to growth defined strategies

• Build a high performance, team which becomes a critical career experience in the development path to become a senior commercial leader in group.

Measure of Success
• Delivery against division’s growth ambitions, in terms of volume, revenue and OI growth.

• Growth to business delivered through the contribution of innovation and portfolio expansion.

• Market place innovation success.

• Value and volume share growth across the local country BU’s.

• Delivery against the ambition of x share of category across the European Territories and the No.1 or No.2 status in the key segments.

• Delivery of the volume, revenue, GP and OI for the stills cross franchise business across Europe.

• Annual feedback survey across local country BU marketing, business intelligence and strategic planning teams, and franchisors.

• Team engagement scores.

Qualifications/Experience/Technical Skills
The ideal candidate for this role will have an in-depth knowledge of the way a global blue-chip fmcg firm operates and the management of the franchise relationship. Ideally they will have experience sales, trade marketing and category management. They will also have an in-depth knowledge of customer needs, and strong commercial skills. A strong understanding of consumer marketing would be an added bonus. They should also understand consumer, shopper and category insights and the impact marketing activity has on the supply chain of a global business.

The ideal candidate will be a credible leader with gravitas. They will have a wide range of influencing and negotiating skills and have an ability to communicate at all levels. They will also have a proven track record of delivering successful business results and improving performance. In addition, they will have experience of developing high performing engaged teams through well-developed leadership skills. They should also be able to think strategically and have an ability to prioritise effectively and make the complex simple.
